GiG snaps up ex-Kambi SVP as CFO for sportsbook arm
Phil Richards joins Platform & Sportsbook division ahead of Malta-based firm’s entity split following strategic review

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Phil Richards as CFO for its Platform & Sportsbook business.
The Malta-headquartered firm has continued to revamp its C-Suite ahead of its incoming split into two entities, GiG Media and GiG Platform & Sportsbook.
Richards will step into the role from July and arrives from cybersecurity specialist Corero Network Security, where he served as CFO for just under two years.
Prior to that, Richards spent almost six years with Kambi in several roles between April 2019 and November 2022, including as US general manager, group financial controller and senior vice-president of finance.
Kambi marked his first foray into the igaming industry, having spent seven years with KPMG and Shell in finance roles from January 2009 to December 2016.
In his new role, Richards will be tasked with continuing the evolution of the firm’s finance department as well as lending a hand in M&A and market development when the Platform & Sportsbook arm is listed separately on the Nasdaq Stockholm.
GiG Platform & Sportsbook CEO Richard Carter, who was appointed last August, praised Richards’ addition.
Carter said: “Phil’s appointment is another significant step towards helping us reach the high bar we have set for the business.
“We are completing a process of bringing together the strongest leadership in sports betting and igaming, and I am confident that his arrival will help further fuel our strategic plans, establishing us as a leader across the igaming industry.”
On his arrival, Richards added: “I am delighted to be joining GiG at such a pivotal moment in the company’s growth story.
“The strength of the product and market reach, coupled with a best-in-class management team, will enable the company to rapidly expand and gain market share.
“Working alongside such an experienced executive team will allow me to further support the continued evolution of GiG’s platform, cementing its position as the market leader for operators globally.”
The affiliate arm of the firm, GiG Media, acquired Casinomeister on Monday for €3m.
