GiG promotes from within for acting group CEO role
Media lead Jonas Warrer will take temporary charge until the proposed split of the firm is complete

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has appointed its media division CEO, Jonas Warrer, as acting group CEO after Richard Brown’s departure earlier this month.
Warrer will assume the position until the proposed split of the firm into separate media and sportsbook divisions is completed.
Brown will support the transition in his advisory board role until 31 December before he joins Glitnor Group as CEO in January 2024.
Warrer originally joined GiG in September 2017 following the acquisition of digital marketing agency Rebel Penguin, where he was the firm’s founder and managing director.
His first role with the Malta-headquartered firm was as a general manager, responsible for the group’s Copenhagen office.
While he was still general manager, Warrer was made interim director of gaming marketing from February 2019 until August 2019 before taking over as CEO of the media division of GiG in October 2019. Lastly, Warrer was made chief marketing officer in April 2021.
On the appointment of Warrer, Petter Nylander, executive chairman of GiG, said: “We are very pleased to appoint Jonas as acting CEO through the process of splitting GiG into two distinct entities to enhance future expansion and drive shareholder value, in addition to his role as head of GiG Media.
“He has long experience within GiG and the industry and has been part of GiG’s executive management for four years”.
