GiG enters “transformational” platform deal with The Football Pools
Malta-based supplier to provide sportsbook and igaming platforms for heritage pools brand as it relaunches online

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has entered into an agreement with the Football Pools (‘The Pools’) to power the legacy betting brand’s igaming and sports betting platforms.
The Pools, which turned 100 last year, will utilise GiG’s SportX sportsbook platform and CoreX igaming solution as the iconic brand turns its attention towards digital growth.
The deal holds significance for GiG, marking the first foray into the UK market for its X-Suite solutions while partnering with a betting brand that has existed for over 100 years.
The Pools customers will have access to a suite of sports betting, casino and lotto products as well a “vastly increased number of jackpot prizes”.
Andrew Cochrane, chief business officer at GiG, commented, “I am delighted that The Football Pools, a brand with such heritage in the UK market, have chosen GiG to power their ambitious online growth plans.
“We have gained a significant headwind with our X-Suite in regulated markets around the world since launch earlier this year, providing a springboard for us to leverage our vast wealth of experience in the UK market, a market we know extremely well, to help power revenue growth.
“I’m extremely optimistic about the continued success of our strategy to increase our B2B market share in key regulated European markets,” he added.
James Arnold, CEO at The Football Pools, expressed his delight at the “transformational” partnership.
He said: “I am delighted to be able to announce this transformational partnership with GiG, at such a pivotal moment in the history of both organisations.
“I firmly believe this will enable us to realise the potential of ‘The Football Pools’ brand heritage, and to aggressively grow The Pools as we embrace the true digital transformation of this iconic British brand.”
Launched from a small office in Liverpool in 1923, as many as 14 million people played The Pools at its peak, staking more than £50m as it became the largest football pools operator in the world.
Last year, to coincide with The Pools turning 100, the company rolled out a new website and app, which included exclusive lotto-format games.
GiG recently announced major changes in its ownership as the Juroszek family obtained a controlling 25.06% stake in the company after purchasing SkyCity’s existing shares.
