Gibraltar signs Brexit agreement for uninterrupted gambling services with UK
Agreement will secure a closer relationship between regulators in the UK and Gibraltar

The Gibraltar government has signed a bilateral agreement with the UK to ensure online gambling operators based on the Rock can continue to provide services freely to the UK market after Brexit comes into force.
The deal extends to the wider finance industry and would see Gibraltar treated the same as Britain when it leaves the EU in March 2019.
A statement released by the Gibraltar government said the two government were also working towards a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to secure closer collaboration between egaming regulators in the UK and Gibraltar.
Gibraltar’s Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said: “Great care has rightly been taken by the UK and Gibraltar to ensure regulatory standards will be maintained between us in a manner than will be designed to assure customer protection and equivalence on regulatory outcomes going forward.”
The arrangement announced yesterday will expire in 2020 when the two parties plan to implement a more permanent framework for continued free movements of services.
The Minister of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union, Robin Walker, said: ““Today we have agreed a positive package deal on issues surrounding our exit from the EU, once again demonstrating that we stand shoulder to shoulder with Gibraltarians in our unwavering commitment to the UK-Gibraltar relationship.”
The two governments previously set up a Brexit working group to discuss matters relating to gambling matters on the Rock, after several operators including 888, said Brexit posed a material risk to their Gibraltar operations.
