Gibraltar Minister praises 888 and Entain’s commitment to the igaming hub
Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry Nigel Feetham says further talks with other gambling industry stakeholders on the agenda after positive dialogue with both firms

Gibraltar’s Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, Nigel Feetham, has praised Entain and 888 for their “commitment” to the British Overseas Territory.
Feetham confirmed he had met with a “number of senior leaders from the gambling sector” on the southernmost tip of the Iberian peninsula, including 888 CEO Per Widerström and Entain’s interim chief Stella David, in recent weeks.
Feetham has served as Gibraltar’s Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry since October 2023.
As part of his role, Feetham is responsible for ensuring multi-jurisdictional groups in Gibraltar are structured in such a way to deliver “proportionate levels of taxations” and support the local community.
According to a government memo, the meetings between Feetham and industry execs involved discussions around regulation, taxation, business optimisation and gambling firms’ physical presence in Gibraltar.
The government noted that both Entain and 888 have “significant substance in Gibraltar and are both major contributors to the local economy”.
According to government statistics, gambling sector accounts for around 28% of GDP on ‘The Rock’.
The memo stated: “Minister Feetham was pleased with the commitment continued to be demonstrated to Gibraltar as an important hub in what are multi-jurisdictional businesses.
“He was also very grateful for the time invested in these discussions and agreed to continue the close of engagement with both companies.”
Feetham is set to meet with additional gambling industry stakeholders in the coming weeks, with a view to providing further clarity on upcoming government policy priorities.
Per the government website, there are 49 licensed companies linked to Gibraltar, including both B2B and B2C firms.
Alongside Entain and 888, other large operators that have a setup in Gibraltar include bet365, Betfred, Gamesys and Lottoland.
Elsewhere, in October, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) said Gibraltar was set to be removed from its grey list after improving anti-money laundering frameworks.
