Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association CEO departs after five years
Paul Foster to focus on Crucial Compliance as he is replaced by former William Hill head Nicholas Macias

Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA) CEO Paul Foster has resigned from his position to focus on his own business venture.
Foster, who is the CEO of Crucial Compliance, leaves the trade body after five years as chief exec.
He has been replaced by former GBGA director of operations Nicholas Macias.
The trade body also confirmed a restructure at the top of the organisation, with ex-Lottoland and former William Hill head Macias serving as secretary general, replacing the CEO position.
Also leaving the GBGA is Merel Swarts, who had served as a coordinator at the body since December 2021.
Swarts also serves as head of HR and business operations at Crucial Compliance.
Speaking on his decision to step down, Foster said: “After an amazing five years as a director and as the CEO I took the tough decision to step down to focus on my other business ventures from the GBGA.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support and most importantly our amazing members. I know the GBGA is in safe hands and I look forward to watching the next chapter,” he added.
GBGA chair Nigel Birrell commented: “We look forward to evolving our strategy over the coming months, starting with supporting you with understanding and adapting to the new Gambling Act in Gibraltar and its resultant revised licensing regime, as well as revised and/or new codes of practice.
