German regulator strips Tipster of licence following police raid
GGL states operator could no longer guarantee player safety after investigation into suspected illegal gambling

The German regulator, Gemeinsamen Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL), has revoked Tipster’s licence effective immediately, stating player safety was no longer guaranteed.
Following raids in April at its offices in Germany, Malta and Croatia regarding suspected illegal gambling and the establishment of a criminal organisation, the decision has now been made to strip Tipster of its licence as permit requirements were no longer met.
The group’s Tipster.de site is no longer accessible.
In a statement, GGL board member Ronald Benter said the regulator will take action against any licence holder that violated state treaty rules.
Benter explained: “We take consistent action against licence holders if they violate elementary rules of the state treaty on gaming.”
Benter’s GGL colleague Benjamin Schwanke also warned “big players” in the market that the GGL will not hesitate to punish anyone.
The operator had held a Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) licence since December 2011 and was approved as a sports betting operator in Germany last December.
