GeoComply: more than 80.1 million transactions on Super Bowl LVI
DraftKings Sportsbook reportedly pays out more than $175m in winnings on clash between LA Rams and Cincinnati Bengals

Online sportsbook operators enjoyed a record-breaking Super Bowl weekend, with geolocation technology specialists GeoComply reporting more than 80.1 million transactions on the NFL’s showpiece game.
The record transaction volume was more than double (2.26x) that revealed by GeoComply in 2021, with 68.2 million transactions taking place between Saturday evening and halftime period on Sunday.
Approximately 5.6 million unique accounts accessed legal online sportsbooks last weekend, a 95% increase from Super Bowl LV.
According to media reports, DraftKings Sportsbook paid out more than $175m in winnings but was tight-lipped on precise details ahead of the company’s Q4 results.
BetMGM also enjoyed a strong weekend, reportedly seeing a record number of users and twice as many bets as during last year’s Super Bowl, while Penn National Gaming’s Barstool Sportsbook also experienced a record number of wagers and unique daily bettors.
In comments reported by the Financial Times, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt lauded the firm’s weekend betting volumes, suggesting that bets placed in newly-regulated New York accounted for the most online wagers received by its sportsbook over the weekend.
“We’re encouraged by strong results over the weekend, with Super Bowl LVI being the most bet on Super Bowl to date,” Greenblatt said.
Notable big bets reported included BetMGM taking a $1m bet on the Los Angeles Rams at -0.5 (+105) in the first quarter and another $1m on the Rams -2.5 (-120) during the first half, both of which paid out.
DraftKings Sportsbook took a battering in respect of first touchdown betting, with a significant number of wagers on Rams Quarterback Odell Beckham Jr. to score the first touchdown at +900 odds, a prediction which later came to pass.
Elsewhere, BetMGM reported that it took a $10,000 bet to win $100,000 on Beckham Jr. to score the first touchdown at odds of +1000.
Sharing its own insights on Super Bowl LVI, sportsbook technology supplier Kambi reported more game parlay bets placed on its operator partner sportsbooks than moneyline, spread and points combined.
Fifty-percent of pre-match bettors using Kambi sportsbooks placed a game parlay on the Super Bowl amounting to 31% of all pre match bets taken during the game.
Just 12% of live bets came during the half-time period compared to 18% during Super Bowl LV. Fourth quarter betting figures rose to 13% from a prior 2021 high of 7%, buoyed in part by Kambi’s Result of Current Drive bet offer.

Kambi CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén hailed Super Bowl LVI as a “huge success” for the US sportsbook supplier.
“As well as being available across 17 US states, our product was on offer in more than 40 territories across the world, with our technology processing more than a million bets on over 600 different bet offers, both pre-game and live,” Nylén added.
Of the 31 US jurisdictions with legalised sports betting, only Nevada has reported its Super Bowl LVI figures. Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) announced $179.8m in Super Bowl bets.
NGCB chairman Brin Gibson said: “Unaudited figures show a sportsbook win of $15,413,228 was recorded on wagers totalling $179,823,715. This resulted in a hold percentage of 8.6%.”
