Gentoo Media names new CFO and general counsel
Affiliate has secured the services of former Deloitte partner Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen to spearhead financial efforts, while Paul Gatt secures promotion in legal division

Gentoo Media has named Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen as its CFO, as well as promoting Paul Gatt to general counsel, in a leadership shakeup at the affiliate.
Appointed to strengthen the “integration between financial strategy and daily operations”, Albrechtsen joins the affiliate from Deloitte Denmark.
Albrechtsen spent just over three years with the international accounting firm, having served since 2022 as a Deloitte partner.
He has also acted as auditor and adviser for several companies “on a transformational and fast-growing journey”, including Gentoo Media, formerly GiG Media, following its strategic split from Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) in October 2024.
Wedged between two spells at Deloitte, the first of which lasted over five years between 2011 and 2016, Albrechtsen also spent five years at PwC.
Management noted that thanks to his previous experience of working closely with the affiliate, Albrechtsen has an existing understanding of its “business model, culture and ambitions”.
Albrechtsen will succeed former Gentoo Media CFO Tore Formo, who will now hold the title of company secretary, as well as head of corporate governance.
In that role, Formo is expected to be responsible for addressing shareholder issues, alongside acting as the main point of contact in relation to Gentoo Media shares and bonds.
Mikael Harstad, Gentoo Media chair, said: “With Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen stepping in as CFO, we are strengthening our financial leadership with a proven expert who already knows Gentoo Media inside out as the next step in the company’s evolution.
“With this addition, we can ensure closer alignment between finance and daily operations while the company grows.
“At the same time, we are fortunate to retain Tore Formo’s expertise. Tore will now focus on corporate governance, bringing even greater value to the company in this critical area.”
Meanwhile, Gatt has risen up the ranks to the role of general counsel, in a move that is hoped will support Gentoo Media’s expansion plans and risk management.
Gatt joined the company in 2022 as legal counsel, before the aforementioned spin-off that saw GiG’s media and supplier divisions split into two separate businesses.
Gatt has been head of legal for Gentoo Media since September 2023. Previously, he has served as legal counsel for Lombard Bank in Malta.
He will report into Gentoo Media CEO Jonas Warrer.
“I am thrilled to take on this role at such an exciting time for Gentoo,” Gatt explained. “Having been part of the company’s journey over the past few years, I look forward to continuing to support its growth and working alongside our talented team to navigate the evolving media and regulatory landscape.”
Warrer added: “Paul has been instrumental in shaping our legal framework during a period of rapid growth and strategic acquisitions.
“His leadership, legal expertise and deep understanding of complex regulatory landscapes have been invaluable. We are confident that, as general counsel, he will continue to steer our legal and compliance strategy with precision and foresight.”
The appointments come just one week after Gentoo Media released Q4 2024 results that revealed record revenue growth for the 16th consecutive quarter, generating €35.9m (£29.8m).
That total marked a 37.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase, with Warrer claiming that the business has “never been stronger”.
