Sir Hugh Robertson joins New York-listed firm’s business advisory council as he expands his industry presence to supplier sector

Genius Sports has appointed Camelot chair Sir Hugh Robertson as an advisor to the company with immediate effect.
Robertson will join the data giant’s newly formed business advisory council, which is responsible for helping to identify strategic development opportunities.
The former Conservative MP served in David Cameron’s cabinet as Minster for Sport from May 2010 until October 2013, when he transitioned to become Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa.
During his time as Minister for Sport, Robertson oversaw the running of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
Alongside his role as chair of UK National Lottery operator Camelot since 2018, he has been chair of the British Olympic Association since November 2016.
He was knighted in 2014 for his efforts across the London 2012 Olympics and the Middle East.
Speaking on his appointment, Robertson said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role at Genius Sports and look forward to working with the management team to build a company that is at the forefront of sports data and technology.
“Now more than ever, the capture, analysis and commercialisation of live sports data is a key growth driver for broadcast, media and regulated betting sectors,” he added.
Mark Locke, Genius Sports CEO, commented: “We are thrilled with the appointment of Sir Hugh. For over twenty years, he has worked tirelessly for British sport and brings extensive commercial and stakeholder expertise to help drive the health and future growth of our company.”
