Genesis Global and AG Communications fined for bonus abuse in Sweden
Malta-headquartered pair hit with penalty fees for informing Swedish customers about recurring bonus offers

Malta-based duo Genesis Global and AG Communications have been fined by Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen for allegedly offering recurring bonuses to online players.
Licence conditions in Sweden’s re-regulated market allow for operators to offer a welcome bonus – but repeat bonus promotions are in breach of Spelinspektionen guidelines.
The regulator said Genesis Global and AG Communications had violated the legislation by “informing their customers about the possibility of receiving recurring bonuses on their websites”.
Genesis Global, which provides casino games on sites including Casino Joy, Casino Gods and Genesis Casino received a penalty fee of SEK 1.7m (£141,000), while AG Communications, which offers games on sites including Karamba, Mr Play and Spinson, was hit with a SEK 500k (£41,600) fee.
Genesis Global previously received a SEK 4,000,000 (£330,000) fine and a formal warning for failing to connect to the Spelpaus self-exclusion database for eight days in January.
Spelinspektionen also revealed last week that Sweden’s self-exclusion register, Spelpaus.se, has now reached more than 35,000 signatures.
Almost 2,800 players signed the register in May 2019, and according to the regulator, 40% of all consumers to have excluded so far are between the ages of 25 and 34.
