GAMSTOP confirms record registrations in 2023 with 9.5% YoY jump in signups
Self-exclusion scheme reports more than 92,000 customers joined programme last year as all-time signups edge towards half a million

GAMSTOP has reported a 9.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in the number of people signing up to its online exclusion scheme in 2023.
The self-exclusion register reported more than 92,000 signups during the 12 months to 31 December, representing a new record.
In fact, the figure beats the previous record, set in 2022, of 84,000.
Of those individuals who have registered with GAMSTOP, 55% have self-excluded for five years, which is the longest available period.
During 2023, May brought about a record month for signups, with 8,594 people choosing to self-exclude during the 31 days.
The full-year figures build on GAMSTOP’s last registration update for H1 2023 which was released in August.
At the time, the organisation reported a 12% YoY increase in registrations to 48,000 for the first six months of the year.
That figure included a significant increase in young people aged 16 to 24, with signups jumping 30% YoY for the demographic.
Since launching in April 2018, a total of 433,357 customers have registered with GAMSTOP.
Fiona Palmer, GAMSTOP CEO, said: “We are continuing to see a year-on-year increase in the number of registrants, which shows the importance of self-exclusion for anyone struggling with their gambling, alongside other blocking tools and support.
“We want to continue raising awareness of GAMSTOP to anyone who might benefit from self-exclusion and to the friends and families of anyone affected by gambling.
“The prevalence of young adults among GAMSTOP’s registrants shows the importance of educating younger consumers and we will continue our outreach to this age group in 2024, working collaboratively with like-minded organisations and harnessing the support of our football club partners,” she added.
