Belgian firm confirms the permanent appointment of interim financial chief Marc Verstraete to bolster C-suite

Gaming1 has permanently appointed interim chief financial officer (CFO) Marc Verstraete to the post.
Verstraete, who was named interim finance chief in July, will now join the Belgian operator permanently.
His role with Gaming1 marks Verstraete’s first position in the igaming industry.
Verstraete joined the firm from French multinational utility company ENGIE.
During a near-10-year spell with ENGIE, he served as CFO for the firm’s Asia-Pacific and Latin American arms.
In July 2021, Verstraete was named chief group performance director, responsible for managing the €600m plan for the business.
The finance veteran also had spells with banking group ING and engineering and consulting firm Tractebel.
Verstraete becomes the second addition to Gaming1’s C-suite this year following the arrival of Yannis Xirotyris as chief commercial officer in January.
Speaking to EGR, Verstraete said: “I am delighted to be taking up my new role as CFO of Gaming1.
“Our shared values and ambitions quickly became the common ground for a mutual desire to work together on the continued international development of the company and take it to the next level of entertainment.”
Nicolas Léonard, Gaming1 chief strategy officer, added: “The entire Gaming1 management committee is delighted to have Marc on board.
“We are confident that his skills and experiences will benefit Gaming1 and help us to achieve our ambitions.”
Elsewhere, EGR spoke with Gaming1 CEO Emmanuel Mewissen in June to discuss the operator’s plans outside of Belgium and how it is navigating new regulatory headwinds in its home market. link
