GAMING1 selects HR veteran as new chief people and culture officer
Steven Scheers joins the Belgian operator’s C-suite after an extensive HR career across multiple sectors

GAMING1 has appointed former Napoleon Sports & Casino head Steven Scheers as the company’s new chief people and culture officer.
Scheers’ new role with the Belgian operator comes after he departed Napoleon last summer and alongside the running his own coaching business, Yuman Capital.
He served as chief people, strategy and transformation officer at fellow Belgian operator Napoleon from November 2022 to July 2024.
Prior to that, he had a spell as chief people and culture officer at microsatellite manufacturer Iceye from September 2020 to June 2022 in the Finnish capital of Helsinki.
Both his roles with Napoleon and Iceye were on fixed-term contracts, with Scheers’ last permanent role being chief HR officer at Czech internet security firm Avast Software from September 2014 to January 2020.
During a five-year stint at shipping company TNT Express, Scheers spent three years as chief people officer from December 2010 to May 2014.
He also worked at Sony Ericsson as head of human resources and at Toyota as a HR manager.
Writing on LinkedIn about his appointment, Scheers said: “First and foremost, I want to thank the founders and the executive team for their trust. I look forward to partnering with them and all the members of the GAMING1 group to drive growth and impact.
“I’m thrilled about this new journey and grateful that I can continue doing what I love most – coaching through Yuman Capital while also contributing to the growth of an organisation, a team and individuals.”
Back in January, GAMING1 was named one of the best employers in Belgium by the Top Employers Institute.
