
Gaming Innovation Group hires former SG Digital CTO amid tech overhaul
Chris Armes to become new chief information officer for Malta-headquartered firm

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has hired former SG Digital CTO Chris Armes as its new chief information officer, the operator announced today.
The appointment was one of four tech hires announced as the Malta-based firm looks to “gear up” its tech management teams.
In his new role, Armes will be responsible for developing the company’s technology strategy, forming part of the C-level management team and reporting to company CEO Robin Reed.
Armes most recently served as chief technology officer for NYX Gaming, working with the firm through its takeover by SG Digital until July this year. He has also worked as senior director for revenue product engineering and vice president for engineering systems at Californian-based IT firm Oracle.

GiG CEO Robin Reed hailed Armes’ “wealth of experience” in the tech space.
“Chris is the latest in a range of tech management hires and he will be a fantastic asset for the GiG team and its customers,” Reed added.
Armes was one of four new appointments announced this morning, with Jonathan Gauci hired as SVP of technology from Cerberus Technology, Stephen Borg hired as director of data, and Jan Flores as director of production operations.
GiG said it was “gearing up its tech management” to oversee the roll-out of the “next generation of the platform services”.
“To build the most flexible, efficient and scalable product, we need to have the very best tech management team,” Reed added.
In other GiG news, the company has signed an agreement with marketing consultancy firm Mediacle which will see the company provide localisation and consultancy services to GiG as it expands into new emerging markets.
Ross Parkhill, director of casino for GiG’s in-house B2C brands, said the partnership “will help our flagship brand Rizk provide a localised offering for our players, improving player acquisition and retention”.
