Gamevy to open Newcastle development studio
Gamevy CCO Helen Walton hopes the move to tech-savvy city will help with recruitment challenge

Lottery and bingo games developer Gamevy has revealed plans to open a new development studio in Newcastle.
Gamevy, which already has offices in London, Berlin and Bilbao, is to create around 30 new jobs in Newcastle by opening an office at Hoults Yard in the city’s east end.
The move was announced after the provider was invited to attend 1up North, the Great Exhibition of the North’s gaming festival.
Newcastle has more than 44,000 people working within the creative, digital and tech industry with 50,000 science, technology, engineering and maths students studying locally.
Gamevy CCO, Helen Walton, said: “We’re delighted to be opening a hub in this vibrant city – and finding so many highly talented people with a passion for innovation.
“Recruitment is a challenge for every tech business, but Gamevy’s unique approach to how we work – with no set hierarchy or job roles – really seems to appeal to the independent spirit of Newcastle.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our first new hire to the Gamevy team,” she added.
The tech sector in the north east of England is reportedly growing twice as fast as the rest of the economy, according to a report by Tech Nation.
Newcastle also has one of the fastest growing tech communities outside of London and is home to gaming companies including Bede Gaming, Ubisoft and Epic Games, while bingo operator Tombola is building a new £7m headquarters on Sunderland Riverside.
