Gamesys Group scoops operator of the year award
Judges praise Gamesys’ reaction to the pandemic as London-listed online gaming firm also triumphs in bingo operator and employer of the year categories

Gamesys Group was crowned operator of the year at last night’s EGR Operator Virtual Awards 2020 as the online bingo and casino firm beat off stiff competition from 12 companies.
Judges noted in their remarks that the operator is a “really exciting business” and that its “reaction to the pandemic has been really good, and really good for the industry”.
Besides landing the coveted headline award, Gamesys was also victorious in the bingo operator and employer of the year categories.
After scooping a hat-trick of awards, Gamesys Group CMO Richard Harris said these accolades capped off a “great year” for the business.
“It was only in September 2019 that the Gamesys Group formed and during that time we have seen a lot of change for our teams, our people and we have delivered a great set of results as the new group whilst delivering great new experiences for our players ,” said Harris.
“This award really is the icing on the cake with the bingo operator of the year and the employer of the year awards,” he added.
Elsewhere, bet365 received three gongs: sports betting operator of the year, mobile sport product, and in-play sports operator.
Kindred Group took home two awards for casino operator and mobile casino product, while GVC came out on top in the safer gambling operator of the year category.

Betsson Group scooped the customer services operator award
The new award for standout charitable effort of the year went to industry trade body the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) for helping to organise the Virtual Grand National in April, which raised £2.9m for NHS charities.
Due to social distancing and lockdown restrictions, this year’s ceremony was hosted over two evenings by talkSPORT presenter Natalie Sawyer from a state-of-the-art virtual studio.
