GamCare hires former NHS director to head up clinical operations
Tim Hodgetts joins the responsible gaming charity after 22 years working in the health and social care sector

GamCare has appointed Tim Hodgetts as the charity’s new director of clinical operations, effective from August 2024.
Hodgetts’s main responsibilities will include oversight and management of GamCare’s clinical and support services.
These include the National Gambling Helpline, online support, regional treatment services and the charity’s range of prevention and education programmes.
Hodgetts joins GamCare after an extensive career in the health and social care sector.
Most recently, he served as deputy director for the Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust from January 2020.
During this time, Hodgetts was responsible for integrating health, social care and volunteers to align with national NHS targets in the county.
Prior to that, he spent six years as the deputy director of nursing, quality and patient safety at the NHS from May 2017 to August 2023.
Speaking about his appointment, Hodgetts said: “I’m delighted to be joining GamCare and supporting the team to deliver its priorities.
“The opportunity to lead and support the organisation to continue delivering high-quality, personalised, support services, including the National Gambling Helpline – outstanding of its kind – that ensure the best possible outcomes for people experiencing gambling harm, is why I was attracted to the role.
“I’m excited to work closely with existing partners, the NHS and government, and to establish new relationships to help shape the future of prevention, education, and treatment within the gambling harms space,” he concluded.
GamCare chair Margot Daly added: “I am delighted to welcome Tim, whose significant expertise, knowledge, and insights will be invaluable to the clinical leadership of the GamCare team. I look forward to making further senior appointments in due course.”
Earlier this year, GamCare promoted Mark Weiss to the role of deputy CEO after two years with the company.
