Former British Red Cross director becomes GamCare boss
Gambling charity selects Victoria Corbishley to take on role that was vacated 18 months ago following Anna Hemmings departure

GamCare has appointed Victoria Corbishley as its new CEO, replacing D’Arcy Myers who had been in charge on an interim basis since August 2023.
Former CEO Anna Hemmings stood down 18 months ago after five years at the helm, with Myers stepping in temporarily.
Since Myers’ interim appointment, the charity had not provided any public updates to its recruitment process for Hemmings’ permanent successor.
Corbishley arrives having spent the last four-and-a-half years with the British Red Cross, her last role being senior director of health and care. She originally joined as UK director of health and local crisis response in October 2020.
A healthcare sector stalwart, Corbishley also spent three years with NHS England between June 2013 and July 2016.
The new GamCare CEO boasts stints with NHS Midlands and East, the Eastern Academic Health Science Network and the Brunel Partners Academic Centre for Health Sciences.

She previously served as vice-chair for the Brandon Centre and is a current non-executive director for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Now with GamCare, Corbishley’s remit will be ensure the charity “remains at the forefront” of support, education and treatment for those affecting by gambling-related harm. She will also be tasked with collaborating with key stakeholders in the industry.
On her arrival, Corbishley said: “I am honoured to join GamCare at this crucial time. Last year alone, GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline received over 55,000 calls and online chats.
“The charity also directly delivered more than 9,100 structured treatment sessions, referred over 7,100 individuals to other regional support providers and 64,000 people participated in the charity’s education programmes.
“These numbers highlight the essential role GamCare plays in supporting those affected by gambling harm, and reinforce our commitment to accessible, high-quality care.
“My focus will be on ensuring GamCare remains a leader in delivering life-changing interventions while working closely with partners across the NHS and wider sector to shape the future of gambling harm prevention treatment.”
Margot Daly, GamCare chair, said Corbishley’s appointment came at a crucial time, especially as the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities was named as the prevention commissioner for the incoming statutory levy.
Daly added: “As GamCare navigates the evolving landscape, Victoria’s leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our collaborations with the NHS as well as UKRI and OHID as the new prevention commissioner.

Corbishley’s arrival follows Alexa Roseblade’s and Tim Hodgetts’, who were appointed chief of staff and director of clinical operations, respectively, in July.
