Former FanDuel duo’s new crypto operator officially launched
After receiving $6m in seed funding, crypto sportsbook and casino outfit BetHog is now live on both sides of the Atlantic as FanDuel co-founder Nigel Eccles outlines his ambitions for the firm

BetHog, a new cryptocurrency casino and sportsbook set up by former FanDuel co-founders Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones, has officially launched today, Tuesday 12 November.
Backed by $6m (£4.7m) in seed funding, mostly attributable to investor group 6MV alongside contributions from angel investors such as Chris Grove, partner emeritus at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, and Josh Hannah, co-founder of Flutter Entertainment, BetHog is now live globally, though it will adhere to a number of jurisdictional restrictions in both the US and UK.
As part of its launch announcement, BetHog bosses outlined how the first round of seed funding will be used to bolster product development alongside scaling the business through strategic partnerships.
Eccles and Jones bring swathes of experience to their latest venture, which has completed its private alpha testing period armed with an array of casino games. Its portfolio is comprised of BetHog originals as well as popular titles from studios such as Pragmatic Play and Evolution.
BetHog’s ‘player versus player’ games will see users able to compete against several popular streamers, in a first-of-its-kind feature.
Speaking on his ambitions for the company, Eccels said: “The crypto casino market has seen dramatic growth over the past few years driven by innovations like provably fair games, robust VIP programmes and streaming.
“With BetHog, my goal is to innovate even further by bringing unique and highly visual games to market.
“I want to offer users unique play-along and skill-based titles, combined with a robust VIP offering, but most of all, this is about maximizing fun for our users.”
BetHog’s casino platform is built on the Solana blockchain, which is designed to deliver high speeds and low transaction costs. Solana uses the cryptocurrency SOL, which will serve as the supporting token for its player versus player titles.
The operator will also accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT on their other titles.
Serge Kassardjian, general partner at 6MV, shared his optimistic outlook on BetHog’s prospects.
“We are thrilled to be backing Nigel and the entire team at BetHog on this investment,” he remarked.
“We think they are perfectly positioned to unlock this massive opportunity to build the most innovative online casino and betting platform of this era of crypto.
“We believe this will bring in a diverse audience of crypto and non-crypto gamers to enjoy this differentiated and fun gambling experience.”
Alongside Eccles and Jones, BetHog bolstered its ranks further last month via the appointment of former BetMGM vice-president and head of partnerships Kyle Wachtel as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).
On Wachtel’s arrival, Eccles said: “[There is] nothing I love more than working with former FanDuel colleagues.
“Super excited to have Kyle join the team at BetHog Inc. We’ve got a lot of really exciting things coming very soon.”
