
Former bet365 head of casino joins PlayStar as COO
Dan Alexander links up with US-facing casino challenger brand after three years with global heavyweight


PlayStar has appointed former bet365 head of casino Dan Alexander as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Alexander spent three years with bet365, where he was responsible for leading the expansion of the operator’s online casino into new markets and managed a team responsible for 10 international gaming licences.
Prior to bet365, Alexander spent nine-and-a-half years at Mansion Group as head of casino platform, where he oversaw product development, marketing and managed key supplier relationships.
In his new role as COO of PlayStar, Alexander will work to develop the firm’s fledgling online casino business.
Led by former Catena Media CEO Per Hellberg, PlayStar agreed a core platform deal with igaming supplier GiG in February.
The firm is expected to actively focus on US in legalised markets including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Speaking about the appointment of Alexander, Hellberg said: “Dan brings a massive amount of product, operational, marketing and industry knowledge to PlayStar and I am delighted to welcome him to the team.
“By adding his great managerial skills to the mix, we have the perfect set-up to take the next steps in our exciting journey to become to number one casino brand in New Jersey.
“The foundation of this is our modern, agile technology platform which we are combining with the best team in the business to provide US players with a superior online casino experience,” Hellberg added.
PlayStar is expected to debut its online casino in Q4 2021.
