Flutter to bolster Romanian tech hub with 500 new hires
Dublin-based operator ramps up investment in Betfair development centre with employee wellbeing at forefront

Flutter Entertainment is planning to hire 500 IT specialists this year at Betfair’s Romanian development centre in Cluj-Napoca.
The hub, which was founded in 2017, is set to increase its workforce by approximately 50%, bringing the total number of employees to 1,500 by 2023 as the FTSE 100 operator ramps up its tech capabilities.
The 500 new hires will work across a range of verticals, including security, data and marketing.
The employees will also be offered the option of hybrid working, three-month sabbaticals and the opportunity to carry out their duties from foreign countries.
The hiring spree is also related to the fact the Romanian development centre is set to begin work across additional Flutter brands including PokerStars, FanDuel and Sportsbet.
Speaking to local publication Ziarul Financiar, Betfair Romania Development GM Ioana Popa said: “It’s an ambitious plan and the steady growth rate we’ve had, including the last two years, gives us confidence that it’s realistic.
“We are a centre of excellence in software and shared services, the largest of the Flutter Entertainment group, with an impressive portfolio of our own products.
“We provide an attractive mix of projects, technologies and benefits that IT professionals are looking for in a long-term career, and we pride ourselves on an organisational culture that encourages diversity, creativity and flexibility,” she added.
Last October, Flutter opened a £15m tech and innovation base in Leeds that was billed as a “centre of excellence” with more than 800 people working exclusively in the field of tech.
