Flutter reveals customers have staked a total of £1.5m on England to win Euro 2024
Around two-thirds of the 150,000 bets placed on The Three Lions with Sky Bet, Paddy Power and Betfair were struck before the tournament kicked off in June

Flutter Entertainment has released betting data for Euro 2024 ahead of Sunday night’s final between England and Spain that shows the company has taken £1.5m across 150,000 bets on England to win the competition.
Around two-thirds of these bets were struck before Euro 2024 started, with England priced up with Paddy Power as 3/1 favourites to lift the trophy.
The New York-listed company’s findings relate to combined totals across the UK and Ireland from Flutter’s three sportsbooks: Paddy Power, Sky Bet and Betfair.
The data covers the tournament up until today, 12 July, and reveals that the best fixture for the operator came in the form of England’s dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Switzerland at the quarter-final stage, after Bukayo Saka equalised with less than 10 minutes to go in normal time.
The outcome was particularly favourable as the match ended in 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, there were under 2.5 goals and Harry Kane or Jude Bellingham failed to find the back of the net.
In contrast, the worst result from the operator’s perspective was Portugal’s dominant 3-0 win against Turkey during the group stages.
The very next round saw the biggest bet builder triumph payout for the firm of the tournament thus far, with one punter pocketing £17,000 after hitting 16 legs during Belgium’s round of 16 contest against Romania.
As for Spain, punters have staked a combined total of £970,000 on La Roja to win their fourth European Championship from 96,000 bets, with around 70% of those placed once the competition was underway.
Elsewhere, BetVictor said today that it is staring down the barrel of a “multi-million-pound payout” if England win Euro 2024, which would be the first major tournament victory for the men’s side on foreign soil.
The Gibraltar-based operator had offered new customers 100/1 on Gareth Southgate’s side (maximum stake £1) before the competition started in Germany.
Chris Poole, director of trading at BetVictor, said: “Not for the first time, our marketing department twisted my arm for an ultra-aggressive offer, giving new customers odds of 100/1 for England to win the Euros with a £1 bet. It proved massively popular, so much so that I will be watching the final from behind the sofa.”
Recently released YouGov data highlighted that Sky Bet’s ‘consideration score’ – a metric used on the YouGov BrandIndex that measures the percentage of consumers who would use a betting operator – has risen significantly from 5.3 in late May to 6.8 on 26 June.
For UK-based bettors, that score has increased further – from 16.9 to 19.2 within the same time frame – making Sky Bet the most popular brand in this metric by some distance.
