Flutter hires ex-Labour deputy leader Tom Watson in advisory role
UK Music chair and former MP to advise London-listed giant on responsible gambling policy

Flutter Entertainment has recruited former Labour deputy leader Tom Watson as an adviser with a focus on responsible gambling practices.
The former MP will advise Flutter on safer gambling best practice in shops, marketing, customer service and anti-money laundering procedures, according to the Financial Times.
Flutter told the broadsheet the details were still being confirmed but the operator has reportedly been in discussions with Watson since late spring.
He will be paid a salary of less than six figures.
Watson was this year appointed chair of trade body UK Music as a replacement for Betting and Gaming Council chief executive Michael Dugher.
Flutter CEO Peter Jackson said: “Bringing in someone with Tom’s gambling reform background is an important part of my commitment to lead the industry’s race to the top.
“We have to work harder than ever before to find a way to continue to bring great products and brands to our customers while always having the need to protect the vulnerable clearly in mind.
“Tom will hold a mirror up to help us make sure we are getting this balance right and I welcome the opportunity to work with him and hear what he has to say in coming months.”
Watson’s former political adviser Dr James Noyes recently authored a Social Market Foundation report into the gambling sector which included recommendations on affordability and taxation.
Watson said: “In taking on this role in Flutter, I intend to get under the bonnet of the business – and the industry more widely – to understand how best to further develop and implement industry-leading responsible gambling policies.
“I strongly believe that working collaboratively with Flutter in this way will allow me to continue to drive positive change,” he added.
