Flutter Entertainment UK&I chief experience officer departs
Ronnie Whelan becomes the latest senior departure within the division following key SBG departures in recent weeks

Flutter Entertainment UK and Ireland chief experience officer Ronnie Whelan has left the FTSE 100 firm after more than six years with the company.
Whelan originally joined Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) in April 2016 as a trading director before being promoted to MD of customer experience and operations in October 2018.
In May 2021, Whelan swapped SBG for a C-level role with the operator’s parent company.
Prior to joining SBG, Whelan spent time with Sporting Index as chief operating officer before moving to sister company Sporting Solutions as its business development director.
Reflecting on his time with the London-listed firm, Whelan praised his fellow employees across three of Flutter’s locations.
He said: “After six years, last week was my last working for Flutter. There have been so many highlights over my time in Leeds, Dublin and London but all of them revolve around working with fantastic people who are smart, humble, hardworking, but most of all, good fun.
“It was also a privilege to work for a company that thinks so much about its customers. Our industry can take a lot of stick, but it often goes unnoticed how hard people work to continually deliver amazing and safe betting experiences.
“A massive thank you to everyone who made working at Flutter such a special part of my career,” he added.
Whelan becomes the latest senior figure to depart Flutter’s UK and Ireland business in recent weeks.
SBG’s head of safer gambling Ben Wright departed the bookmaker after almost 15 years. Director of technology Mark Joyce has also moved on.
