Exclusive: Matchbook promotes head of marketing to CMO Eric Hegarty takes the marketing reins with a number of new sponsorships set to be announced for 2022

Matchbook has promoted its current head of marketing, Eric Hegarty, to the position of CMO.
Hegarty has been employed at the Cork-headquartered betting exchange since leaving his role as account manager at PFH Technologies in March 2016.
Prior to this, he was with Paddy Power as an online and marketing graduate until February 2015. Upon joining Matchbook in April 2016, he worked his way up from marketing executive before moving into the role of head of acquisition and retention.
He then transitioned into the marketing team where he became head of marketing in December 2019.
The move comes as company reveals to EGR that it has “a number of exciting new sponsorships lined up for 2022”.
Hegarty said of his appointment: “I’m delighted to take up the role in what is an exciting time for the business.
“Matchbook is very eager to scale up our marketing activity with a particular focus on horseracing sponsorship and brand activity with the aim of increasing awareness of the Matchbook brand and showcasing our best-in-class product and pricing.”
The CMO role at Matchbook has been vacant for some time after Hegarty’s predecessor, Shane Stafford, departed in December 2019.
