Exclusive: Jackpocket lottery app to act as an affiliate to leverage sports betting opportunities
The start-up is also developing new lottery games with gaming and betting elements

Third-party lottery app Jackpocket is planning to act as an affiliate in the US, alongside its ticket reselling business, in a bid to leverage the cross-selling opportunities between lottery, sports betting and other egaming verticals.
Speaking to EGR NA, CEO Peter Sullivan said betting operators had expressed interest in using the start-up’s database of lottery players and the firm was seeking to work alongside them.
“Becoming a major affiliate is the first stepping stone in making sure our players resonate with the wagering companies and the second is forming our own unique perspective in terms of what we can do in the space,” Sullivan said.
With a number of state lotteries tasked with regulating and producing local betting products, Sullivan also sees potential in new types of lottery games that integrate elements of betting, including sports lottery.
“We think new, interesting formats will evolve out of these and potentially help lotteries and that’s where we’re going to focus our attention,” Sullivan said.
“PASPA outlawed sports wagering but it also outlawed sports sweepstakes and sports lotteries so you couldn’t have a free-to-play game that involved the outcome of a sports score.”
The firm is in the process of filing IP around new game formats it plans to launch later this year.
Jackpocket just closed its Series B funding, securing $5m in investment, with plans to launch its Series C in Q3/Q4.
The app is currently live in Texas, New Hampshire and Minnesota and has another two states on the horizon.
Former Scientific Games CEO Gavin Isaacs joined Jackpocket as an investor and member of the board in April.
