Exclusive: Bet365 joins forces with iGameMedia and THEO Technologies for ultra-low latency streaming
Multi-year partnership expected to cut lag times on live streams from as much as eight to two seconds

IGameMedia has announced a new multi-year partnership with THEO Technologies to create a new ultra-low latency sports streaming solution.
The first operator to benefit from this new partnership is bet365, with a launch expected to take place in May 2023.
Alongside the launch with bet365, the technology will also go live with rights agency partner Infront Bettor.
Sports streaming latency across the sector averages between seven to eight seconds using HTTP live streaming (HLS), which, in turn, leads to pricing data feeds moving markets in one to two seconds.
Once the new technology goes live, it intends to cut latency time to around two seconds from the source. There will also be a sub-second latency service where required.
Mike Cobain, CEO of iGameMedia, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have partnered with THEO Technologies, whose high efficiency streaming protocol (HESP) spell out protocol is, in our view, the only viable solution to ultra-low latency at the required scale and at the required cost acceptable to the industry.
“It also has so many brilliant features such as the ability to meter user conditions and respond instantly to poor networks, being able to change to a lower adaptive bit rate in just one frame, that is 1/25th of a second.”
Steven Tielemans, CEO of THEO Technologies, remarked: “iGameMedia and THEO’s new ultra-low latency sports streaming solution will be a gamechanger for the sports betting industry.
“Rights owners can deliver their sports content to sportsbook operators in less than a second with this solution, while sportsbooks will provide a massively enhanced experience to their users. We are thrilled to partner with the iGameMedia team to deliver this ground-breaking solution to the market.”
A spokesperson for bet365 added: “We’re thrilled that in collaboration with our partners at iGameMedia, we can continue to provide the best in-play customer experience on our industry-leading product.”
