Ex-Pinnacle CEO Paris Smith joins AI-forward startup Rithmm as an adviser

Former Pinnacle CEO Paris Smith has joined AI-powered modelling startup Rithmm as the firm’s latest adviser.

Rithmm was founded in September 2022 and is led by CEO Megan Lanham and COO Kelsey Allan, with the platform offering predictive analytic models to inform bettors on how to wager more effectively.

The company, which boasts MIT roots, received initial backing from Boston Seed Capital, Accomplice and Counterview Capital, with all three original seed investors in DraftKings.

Smith stepped down as Pinnacle CEO in May 2023 after 17 years as she transitioned to an advisory position with the company.

One of the few female CEOs in the sector, Smith became one of the most well-known figures in the industry after taking the reins and leading the high-volume, low-margin giant.

In her time since leaving the Pinnacle frontline, Smith has focused on advising and investing in emerging sports betting firms worldwide.

Speaking at NEXT Valletta back in May, Smith said her transition into supporting startup and scaleup firms came naturally.

She said: “My favourite part about the whole industry is the people, so when I stopped working, I just started talking to everybody and then acting as an angel investor – it happened very organically.

“I absolutely love it. I love watching people have an idea, helping them navigate which is the best way forward for them with the experience that I have, and just seeing people solve the problem.”

Touching on linking up with the firm, Smith added: “What Rithmm is doing is unlike anything else in the market and I was drawn to their unique value proposition as a tool for both novice and sharp bettors alike.

“I’m excited to lend my expertise, experience and network to their team as they prepare for a big football season.” 

Rithmm CEO Lanham added that she was “thrilled” to welcome the former Pinnacle CEO into the fold.
