Ex-Evolution and Red Tiger execs launch new games development firm
Fronted by Carl Ejlertsson and trio of backers, OctoPlay marks its debut with the initial launch of its new games portfolio

A group of igaming veterans have created a new games development studio focused on player engagement called OctoPlay.
The studio launched its new games portfolio with three of its new games built using its proprietary games server.
OctoPlay is fronted by former games director at Evolution Gaming Carl Ejlertsson as CEO.
Ejlertsson previously spent more than four years with Red Tiger before Evolution acquired the supplier, as well as a three-year stint with Betsson Group.
Ejlertsson is supported by a trio of senior execs at the startup from his time at Red Tiger and Evolution.
Martina Borg Stevens moves across from Bragg Gaming to become OctoPlay’s legal and compliance director. Stevens also spent time as group head of legal at NetEnt and head of legal and compliance at Red Tiger.
Nick Vuchev joins as commercial director following a near three-year spell at Red Tiger. Vuchev was initially an account manager before being made commercial manager for Malta and finally head of account management before leaving the supplier last year.
Lastly, Nicola Vella links up with OctoPlay as its finance director after 10 months with the investment management firm Capricorn Capital Partners UK as its chief financial officer.
Vella previously spent time at NetEnt as its finance manager and head of revenue. She also spent just under three-and-a-half years with Catena Media as a senior accountant.
On the launch of Octoplay, Ejlertsson said: “OctoPlay is laser-focused on producing ground-breaking content for regulated markets. Our simple philosophy is to be licensed in every possible jurisdiction on the planet. If a licence is available, we will get it as soon as we can.
“As our first suite of games shows, we have the single common theme of showing players a great time. We don’t mind how far we have to go, or what features we have to develop, it’s just about going out there and delivering great, sustainable fun,” he added.
