Ex-Evoke managing director Alexis Zamboglou becomes CEO of Blockasset
Experienced industry professional heads up crypto-based sports network as he outlines plans to make it “one of the most recognised crypto projects worldwide”

Alexis Zamboglou has announced he will become CEO and co-founder of crypto-based sports network Blockasset, two months after stepping down as UK and Ireland managing director of evoke.
Blockasset promotes fan engagement in exchange for rewards and VIP experiences. Built on the Solana blockchain, customers collect tokens via free-to-play prediction games, such as BlockPicks.
According to figures from the Solana Foundation, 69% of customers engage with Blockasset weekly, with the firm paying out $150,000 (£112,500) in rewards to its users across 113 countries.
The company has partnered with several athletes and sporting organisations, including an official partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Such deals allow Blockasset to produce exclusive content with its partners, as well as offer customers exclusive fan opportunities.
Confirming the news on LinkedIn, Zamboglou wrote: “A fresh start for me from this week, in the fastest growing sector of our industry which is GambleFI – the convergence of decentralised finance and blockchain technology into online betting and gaming.
“Today I join Blockasset as CEO and co-founder in our journey and ambition to become one of the most recognised crypto projects worldwide.”
Zamboglou also outlined Blockasset’s future ambitions and financial targets within the next four years.
“As a team, we have a clear vision of becoming a leading Web3 betting and gaming business with the strongest customer relationships, most exciting rewards and a digital asset that holds true long-term value for investors and our community members,” the former evoke director divulged.
“We know it’s only day one of that journey, but we have the right people, the right brands and the right strategy to take us from where we stand today to a $130m NGR [net gaming revenue] per year business by 2028 in a sustainable and customer centric way.”
Zamboglou spent just over a year as managing director evoke’s 888 and William Hill brands, having started that role in May 2023.
During that time, he spearheaded the company’s biggest commercial division, guiding a team of 240 staff based across multiple sites including London, Leeds, Gibraltar, Philippines and Israel.
Prior to that, Zamboglou spent three-and-a-half years at William Hill, joining before its £2bn acquisition by 888 in July 2022. He arrived as UK strategy director in January 2020, became marketing director in May 2021 and then both UK marketing director and Ireland managing director in January 2022. Zamboglou also served as Entain’s marketing director between April 2018 and October 2019.
When he announced his departure in August, Zamboglou hinted at his next step, revealing that he would take on a “fresh and very different challenge in October” and adding he was “looking forward to getting stuck into and building a positive and winning culture from the bottom up”.
