Esports Entertainment Group appoints new COO
Esports betting firm promotes chief legal officer Stuart Tilly to lead operations following acquisition of New Jersey gaming licence

Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has appointed Stuart Tilly as the group’s new chief operating officer (COO).
Tilly originally joined EEG following the Malta-based firm’s acquisition of UK-licensed operator Argyll Entertainment, of which Tilly had served as CEO from 2016 through to August 2020.
Upon the completion of the merger, Tilly was appointed as EEG chief legal officer and following nearly two years in the role will take the step up to COO.
Since Tilly joined EEG in August 2020, the firm has continued to action a wave of M&A activity which he played a key role in overseeing.
EEG agreed a deal to acquire Malta-based online gambling firm Lucky Dino Gaming Limited for a fee of $30m in December 2020.
Last September the operator entered into a partnership with Game Fund Partners (GFP) as it took its first steps into the venture capital world.
Speaking on his appointment, Tilly said: “Having played a role in the burgeoning expansion of the company’s operations through our M&A activity since joining the company in the summer of last year, I’m incredibly excited to now be entrusted with overseeing the next stage of the company’s operational growth.”
Grant Johnson, EEG CEO, added: “Given the remarkable growth in the size, breadth and geographical reach of our operations and staff over the last 18 months, we had long identified this operations role as a critical one in enabling the company to achieve its long-term strategic goals.
“With Stuart’s extensive igaming knowledge, first-hand experience of launching and growing businesses together combined with his legal and regulatory background, we felt he was the ideal fit for this position,” he concluded.
Earlier this month, EEG was granted a sports betting licence in New Jersey to launch its esports betting platform VIE.gg in the Garden State. It was also featured in the EGR Power 50 released in December.
