Entain adds former Barclays MD and ASOS CFO to board
London-listed operator enlists the services of Helen Ashton to “further enhance the board's ability to support and oversee the delivery of our strategy”

Entain has added former Barclays and ASOS exec Helen Ashton to its board as an independent non-executive director.
She will make her first step into the gambling sector after an extensive career in financial services and retail.
Ashton is the current CEO of consultancy and advisory firm Shape Beyond, which she founded in 2020.
Prior to that, she served as CEO for white goods service provider JLA Group between January 2019 and November 2020.
Having risen through the ranks at UK supermarket Asda to become head of retail finance, Ashton then shifted to Barclays as managing director for Barclaycard International in 2005.
She then joined Lloyds Banking Group as a finance director in January 2010 before moving to Capquest Group as CEO in May 2012.
Ashton then moved into retail once again, joining the online fashion marketplace ASOS as CFO in August 2015.
Ashton is currently a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at JD Sports, having sat on the retailer’s board since November 2021.
Ashton will also join the company’s audit committee, joining chair Pierre Bouchut, David Satz and Rahul Welde.
Entain said Ashton would bring “broad global business and financial services experience with extensive knowledge of high-growth digital and retail businesses” to the company.
Barry Gibson, Entain chair, heaped praise on Ashton and praised her wide-ranging experience following her addition to the board.
“On behalf of the board, I am delighted to welcome Helen to Entain,” he said.
“Helen brings a wealth of retail, digital, financial and board experience. As part of the continued strengthening of the Entain board, I am confident that Helen will further enhance the board’s ability to support and oversee the delivery of our strategy.”
Last week, Entain chief IR and communications officer David Lloyd-Seed confirmed his departure from the FTSE 100 firm after four years of service.
