DraftKings unveils Ashes-inspired betting tournament
US operator pit English and Australian punters against each other across five sports in play on cricket’s oldest rivalry

DraftKings has taken inspiration from cricket’s Ashes series to pit 20 English and Australian bettors against each other for a chance to win $10,000.
The annual Ashes series sees England and Australia compete for the smallest trophy in sport and DraftKings is aiming to put a new spin on the rivalry.
The Boston-based operator will select 10 existing DraftKings players from each country to face off against each other across five Tests.
The Tests will run across a one-week period, starting on 9 August, with players betting on the NBA, CS:GO (esports), the UEFA Champions League, the PGA Wyndham Championship and the AFL.
Each team will be competing for a total of $10,000 in cash prizes, with daily and cumulative leaderboards also thrown into the mix.
Jeffrey Haas, DraftKings SVP of international strategy, said: “The rivalry between our two teams is already heating up and will no doubt reach similar heights as its cricketing namesake. We are excited for the contest to kick off and to watch the players compete for the prestigious title.
“As a digital sports entertainment and gaming company we aim to fuel the competitive spirits of fans and this initiative will help further drive engagement from both our existing customers and sports enthusiasts around the globe,” he added.
