DraftKings looks within for new chief marketing officer
Veteran employee Stephanie Sherman assumes CMO role as part of marketing consolidation

DraftKings has promoted veteran employee Stephanie Sherman to the role of chief marketing officer (CMO).
Sherman, who was one of DraftKings first 15 employees, joined the US sports betting heavyweight in May 2013, most recently serving as senior VP of marketing, where she focused on areas including customer acquisition and so-called ‘direct response’ marketing.
Prior to serving in roles of increasing responsibility at DraftKings, Sherman managed acquisition marketing for Vistaprint.
Labelled as an “instrumental” team member of DraftKings, the operator has confirmed that Sherman will scale future marketing, including brand and agency campaigns as well as media buying and influencer strategy.
The move to promote Sherman is understood to come from a desire to consolidate responsibility for all marketing functions in one individual, with the aim of further optimizing DraftKings marketing capabilities.
Sherman has been recognized the past two years in a row by PR and marketing magazine Adweek as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Sports.”
DraftKings co-founder and president Matt Kalish hailed Sherman’s contribution to the growth and development of the daily fantasy sports and sports betting firm over the last decade.
“Since our early days as an insurgent daily fantasy business, Stephanie has been a driving force of our growth and contributed hugely to DraftKings becoming a household name and a global, multi-product digital entertainment company enjoyed by millions of consumers,” Kalish explained.
“Stephanie’s consistently strong performance has earned the respect of the entire DraftKings team and she is recognized as one of our industry’s most dynamic marketing minds.
“I am thrilled to elevate Stephanie as our chief marketing officer and gain her integral perspective within our executive leadership team,” he added.
