DraftKings continues European push with basketball sponsorship
DFS operator named official fantasy partner of EuroLeague Basketball
DraftKings has been named the official fantasy partner of EuroLeague Basketball, as the operator looks to continue its expansion in Europe.
The deal will see DraftKings develop a variety of fantasy products based around the EuroLeague, for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
The EuroLeague’s existing fantasy offering has been played more than one million times since its inception in 2004 with that number expected to rise following the new partnership.
The EuroLeague is a pan-European tournament, with a strong presence in Italy, Spain, Greece and much of Eastern Europe.
DraftKings went live in Malta and Germany earlier this year after securing a skill games licence from the MGA.
DraftKings CIO Jeffrey Haas said the launch was part of a plan to increase its “addressable audience” in Europe by more than a hundred million.
Haas told EGR other European markets had been targeted, but the firm would wait to see the results from Germany before expanding further.
