DAZN BET adds William Hill safer gambling head to growing team
Gemma Burge links up with Mark Kemp, Sandeep Tiku and other industry stars as Shay Segev continues to build out sportsbook team

DAZN BET has strengthened its burgeoning sports betting team with the appointment of former William Hill head of safer gambling policy Gemma Burge.
Burge has been appointed as DAZN BET head of safer gambling after joining from Hills, where she most recently served as head of UK safer gambling policy, strategy and risk from June 2021.
She originally joined Hills in June 2019 as a safer gambling risk manager before being promoted to head of safer gambling for retail in February 2020.
Burge began her career in the industry with Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) in September 2016 as an operational risk manager, before eventually becoming head of real time risk in October 2018.
Burge joins DAZN BET following the announcement from the sports streaming giant that it would make strides into the sports betting world via a partnership with Pragmatic Group.
The parent company, DAZN, is headed up by former Entain CEO Shay Segev, who has cherry-picked key industry figures to build out an impressive roster ahead of the sportsbook’s launch in Q3 2022.
Last month, former BoyleSports CEO Mark Kemp was appointed as chief executive for DAZN BET, joining ex-Entain COO Sandeep Tiku, now DAZN CTO, and former William Hill head of football and US sports Liam Barbour, who is now SVP of future product strategy.
Segev’s first hire was that of ex-Entain exec Ian Turnbull who was brought in as EVP of betting and gaming in September 2021.
Posting on LinkedIn, Burge said: “I’m absolutely delighted to share that I’m starting a new position as head of safer gambling at DAZN BET.
“I’m really excited to be working for this incredible brand as they start their new venture, building a gambling experience that will promote safe play and customer wellbeing,” she added.
