Sportsbook brings in Matt Hartington as director of legal ahead of Q3 launch as firm continues to poach industry stalwarts

DAZN BET has once again added to its burgeoning roster of industry talent with the appointment of ex-Flutter Entertainment exec Matt Hartington as its director of legal.
Hartington joins the challenger brand from Flutter, where he most recently served as the group’s head of legal for UK and Ireland since August 2021.
Hartington previously spent five years with Sky Betting and Gaming (SBG), having originally joined the Leeds-based firm in August 2016 as legal counsel.
He was then promoted to senior legal counsel in May 2019 before becoming the operator’s head of legal in October 2019.
Hartington becomes the latest industry figure to join the sports streaming platform’s sportsbook venture, which will be led by former BoyleSports CEO Mark Kemp as CEO.
Elsewhere, ex- Betdaq MD Shane McLaughlin has been appointed as MD for UK and Ontario, while former Entain technology director Simon Gatenby will become chief marketing officer.
Entain information technology director Michael Boylan has also joined DAZN BET’s executive team as a technology director, along with ex-William Hill pair Liam Barbour and Gemma Burge and former 888 risk exec Matthew Greenman.
DAZN, which is led by former Entain CEO Shay Segev and backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik, announced its sportsbook launch in April in partnership with Pragmatic Solutions.
Speaking on his appointment, Hartington said: “Bittersweet for me as I mark the end of a small era at Sky Betting and Gaming. Thank you to all the people for making it such a great period in my life.
“ very excited with my next move as I step in to become director of legal at DAZN Bet. Can’t wait to get going in a couple of weeks’ time,” he added.
