Dafabet lands Celtic shirt sponsorship deal
Philippines-based bookmaker says deal is part of strategic plan to boost presence in football

Dafabet has secured a four-year agreement to be the main shirt sponsor of Celtic FC, starting with the 2016-17 season.
The Philippines-based bookmaker is already in the second year of a five-year deal as the Scottish club’s International Betting Partner.
“A year ago I said that no matter where in the world you are, you see Celtic shirts such is their tremendous support and fan following,” Dafabet’s head of marketing John Cruces said. “We’re talking about one of the most iconic and recognised shirts in football.”
“Now to have Dafabet at the heart of Celtic sponsorship is a milestone event and a very proud moment for us. Having already formed a strong partnership with the club we can only go from strength to strength over the next four years.”
The operator’s managing director of online betting and gaming, Dimitris Karatzas, said the move was part of a continuing strategy to increase the Dafabet brandâs presence in football. Dafabet is already the shirt sponsor for Sunderland for the 2016/17 season and has previously sponsored Aston Villa.
“To now feature on the front of one of the most famous shirts in football, is another huge step forward for us,” added Karatzas.
Dafabet will replace Magners as Celtic’s main sponsor after a three-year partnership.
“We have already enjoyed an excellent relationship with Dafabet and we are delighted they have made such an increased commitment to the club,” Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell added.
“Celtic continues to be one of the world’s great football clubs and one which is delighted to attract such high-calibre associations.”
