Crucial Compliance enters the African market to aid responsible gambling awareness efforts
Consultancy firm will host a number of events throughout the month to help raise awareness of problem gambling in the continent

Crucial Compliance has announced that it has plans to expand its services into Africa to develop a safer gambling framework for operators.
The Gibraltar-based firm comprises a number of gaming and compliance specialists and industry veterans. The move into Africa aims to try and tackle the African market’s cultural and systemic problems, which potentially lead to unsustainable gaming behaviour and can contribute to addiction for individuals in some markets.
Over the next month, Crucial will host a number of ‘safer gambling hackathons’, which look to bring together stakeholders, operators, government and those affected by gambling problems to try and work on solutions to influence policy changes and better regulatory regimes.
Crucial will work alongside strategic consultancy Adam Bradford Agency to implement its action plan in its partner regions of Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria and South Africa.
The events will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, on 31 January 2023 and on 3 February 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Paul Foster, CEO of Crucial Compliance, said: “Crucial Compliance is focused on changing the industry one operator at a time. This should not just be within established regulatory markets but include those with high growth where gambling-related harm could be more prevalent.
“Having looked at the rapidly growing African gambling markets, we recognised that our support could make a difference. We have therefore committed time and resources to try and make a change to protect those most vulnerable of players.”
