PLAYTECH has signed a bingo licensing agreement with Boylesports, Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker, less than a month after the software provider ramped up in the bingo space with the acquisition of Virtue Fusion.
Virtue Fusion is one of bingo’s most liquid networks, with peak traffic of more than 6,000 players, and licensees including Bet365, Crown Bingo, Ladbrokes, Mecca, Paddy Power, Sky, Virgin and Playtech joint venture partner William Hill, giving Boylesports access to unrivalled bingo prize pool liquidity.
Playtech already provides Boylesports with poker.
Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer said: “Boylesports already benefit from having Playtech for their poker product, so taking another best of breed service by utilising the Virtue Fusion Alderney platform will compliment their portfolio and bring enhanced opportunities.”
Boylesports head of online Conor Grant said the company is “delighted to be introducing their online bingo through Virtue Fusion to Boylesports.com.”
Playtech bought Virtue Fusion in February, the software supplier’s third major deal in little over two months, swelling its existing bingo network by roughly seven times
The move to strengthen its position in the bingo market follows Playtech’s acquisition of casino gaming software company Gaming Technology Solutions (GTS) in December 2009, and the formation of its SciPlay joint-venture with US lottery giant Scientific Games to deliver online technology to government-backed lottery operators in January.
In other strategic bingo acquisitions, 888 bought Wink Bingo in December last year, while rival PartyGaming bought Cashcade in July.
The British bingo space, the vertical’s biggest market, has also seen a raft of sponsorship deals this month. These include Harrah’s launch of UK online bingo under the Caesar’s brand, Gameys launching bingo for radio network Heart FM and Mecca launching Britain’s Got Talent bingo branded with the television programme of the same name.
