
Continent 8 secures new chief financial officer
Kristian Valenta swaps private equity for security and data supplier as he assumes C-level role


Continent 8 Technologies has appointed finance and banking veteran Kristian Valenta as the firm’s new chief financial officer (CFO).
Valenta joins the security and data company from Canadian private equity firm Novacap where he served as vice president from August 2014.
Valenta also spent more than two years as a senior analysist with KPMG Canada before joining Novacap.
He has served on the boards of cloud computing company Syntax and manufacturing firm Nitrex.
As CFO, Valenta will be responsible for overseeing the supplier’s entire financial budget and strategy.
He will be based in Montreal in his new role.
Valenta will join CEO Michael Tobin, chief operating officer Stephen Trimble and chief product officer Justin Cosnett at the group’s C-level.
In Q2, Continent 8 revealed it had blocked 178 DDoS attacks, up from 106 in previous quarter, while 25 of the observed attacks had repeat attacks within a 24-hour period.
