Codere names new CFO as C-suite reshuffle continues
Spanish operator hires Luis Villalba who has over two decades worth of experience in the financial field with PwC

Codere has appointed Luis Villalba as its new chief financial officer (CFO) as part of its ongoing restructure to its senior leadership team.
The financial veteran will replace Oscar Fernandez de Llano who has left the company for personal reasons, after being appointed in October 2022.
The move comes one week after the Spanish operator named Gonzaga Higuero as its new CEO.
Villalba boasts 25 years’ experience in the financial field and was previously the CFO of olive oil producing giant Deoleo, a role he held for just over six-and-a-half years.
Villalba also had a near-two-decade spell with PwC.
Arriving as an auditor in October 1998 and staying in the role for three years, he moved on to become a senior manager in June 2001 and then in July 2009, became debt refinancing director in the company.
That role lasted a year, with Villalba becoming a financial director in July 2010, holding the position for five years before leaving for Deoleo.
In a statement announcing his appointment, Codere explained that Villalba will be working on promoting and improving the reporting systems across the different markets Codere operate in.
The group said: “In his new role as CFO of Grupo Codere, Luis Villalba will assume the challenge of leading the company’s financial strategy after the refinancing.
“In addition, he will focus on promoting and improving the systems of reporting for decision-making in the different countries where Codere operates, and will strengthen the investor relations area, with the aim of consolidating the company’s position in the market.
“This incorporation is of great relevance in this new stage of the group, in which Codere seeks to consolidate its project and generate value in the market. His versatility and solid experience in the financial field are a valuable asset to the company.”
