Checkd Media lands Sky Bet veteran as new head of sports
Manchester-based affiliate secures trading expert Paul Lowery to head up sports output with focus on US

Checkd Media has appointed Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) veteran Paul Lowery as its new head of sports.
Lowery joins the affiliate from SBG where he spent more than 10 years with the bookmaker after joining as a US sports trader in June 2011.
Lowery rose through the ranks to become head of sports trading in December 2017 before becoming head of trading risk in August 2019.
His final role with the Leeds-based operator was as US sports trading lead from August 2020 until March 2022.
In his role as head of sports at Checkd Media, Lowery will be responsible for manging the teams that curate website and social media content, with an aim of widening knowledge with a particular focus on the US.
Lowery will also be responsible for standardising the tipping product, bringing new ideas into the space and developing bookmaker relationships to establish exclusive betting selections.
Lowery assumed the role on 1 April and will be based in Manchester. He will report into Checkd Media MD Alex Beecham.
Speaking to EGR, Lowery said: “Having been with Sky Bet for more than 10 years I have seen the business grow to a huge size during two acquisitions.
“I wanted to get involved with a smaller business from a culture perspective, and having seen Checkd emerge and grow while working with them at Sky Bet it felt like a good time to make the move across and try to bring in my knowledge from the bookmaker perspective and share this across the teams.
“The launch of our US brand Flashpicks was also a big influence for me, as my recent years have been spent working on the major US products at Sky Bet and this is an area of great personal interest for me,” he added.
Beecham said: “With Paul’s appointment, we are bringing in someone who knows the betting industry inside-out and who can successfully lead our revenue drive domestically and in the US. Paul’s trading know-how makes him a great fit to upskill our brand teams from a betting knowledge standpoint.”
