Catena Media board member steps down after five-year spell
Theodore Bergqvist, who had served on the affiliate firm’s board since May 2019, leaves the company with immediate effect

Catena Media has announced that board member Theodore Bergqvist has stepped down from his role with the company after five years of service.
Bergqvist, who currently serves as CEO and co-founder of Swedish AI firm Turbotic, had served on the Malta-based affiliate’s board of directors since May 2019.
He also currently serves as an advisory board member for the equity fund Handelsbanken Fonder, as well as being a formal member of the MIT Technology Review.
Prior to launching Turbotic in 2020, Bergqvist held several roles at telecommunications brand Ericsson between October 2017 and May 2020, including as head of data and analytics between June 2018 and May 2020.
Catena Media has said it is not considering any replacements for Bergqvist at this time and will continue with five non-executive directors until further notice.
Chaired by Erik Flinck, the board now consists of angel investor Sean Hurley, Eilers & Krejcik Gaming co-founder Adam Krejcik, Øystein Engebretsen and Dan Castillo.
A Catena Media statement read: “The board would like to thank Mr. Bergqvist for his service and wishes him well for the future.”
The firm recorded a 14% year-on-year revenue decrease for Q2 2024, heavily influenced by May’s Google Search update which impacted several affiliate brands.
Sweepstake casinos contributed over a third (€3.33m) of the company’s revenue for the quarter, which CEO Manuel Stan described as the affiliate’s “fastest growing vertical”.
