Catena Media hails Pennsylvania potential after online launch
Malta-based affiliate has now started driving customers to the PlaySugarHouse online sportsbook

Catena Media today began driving new depositing customers (NDCs) to Pennsylvania’s first online sportsbook, PlaySugarHouse.
The Malta-based affiliate, which is regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, has also reached agreements with multiple sportsbook operators in the state who are expected to launch online sports betting before the new NFL season.
Catena said it had been preparing for the opening of the Pennsylvania market for a number of years, “long before the state authorised online gambling in November 2017”.

The affiliate has numerous lead generation sites live in the state, including Playpennsylvania.com and PAonlinecasino.com, as well as US-wide brands like Legal Sports Report.
Catena Media CEO Per Hellberg said: “When the Pennsylvanian market is fully opened, we expect this to essentially double the size of the online markets Catena is serving in the United States, which today consists primarily of New Jersey.”
Wagering in New Jersey nearly doubled from $95m in August to $184m in September 2018 after online sports betting went live in the state.
“Catena Media shares the excitement with the rest of the gambling industry as the long-anticipated market of Pennsylvania has opened,” says Michael Daly, Catena Media’s US general manager.
“We look forward to a growing market, starting with the trailblazing by SugarHouse and soon to be followed by a number of additional world-class operators,” he added.
Pennsylvania retail betting revenues were down 24% in April.
