Sean Hurley takes up position vacated by Per Widerström in August 2023

Catena Media has appointed Sean Hurley as a non-executive director, filling the seat recently vacated by Per Widerström in August following his appointment as CEO at 888.
Hurley’s appointment to the affiliate’s board will take effect once the necessary paperwork is filed with the Malta Business Registry.
The duration of his position as non-executive director will last until the end of the firm’s next annual general meeting, the date of which was not disclosed by Catena.
Hurley is an advisor that is currently based in the US and has held a number of roles with igaming firms.
In 2018, he had a stint at DraftKings, where he was initially appointed as the operator’s first head of sportsbook and helped oversee the launch its online sportsbook in New Jersey. He also spent two months as the firm’s head of commercial growth before leaving to become a private advisor in September 2018.
Hurley has been an advisor and angel investor to over 35 startups in the US, with some of his success stories including Betcha Sports, which Vivid Seats acquired in December 2021, and GOAT Gaming, which was bought by Underdog Fantasy in September 2021.
In June 2021, he co-founded American Affiliate, which was later acquired by $FANS in November 2021.
On his new role Hurley said: “Catena Media has entered an exciting new phase in its development and has a promising future ahead. I am delighted to have been asked to contribute my expertise as the company moves forward and further strengthens its position as a leading affiliate in North America.”
