Catena Media appoints former bwin manager as new CFO
Peter Messner to take up finance role at Malta-based affiliate firm from April 2020

Catena Media has appointed Peter Messner as its new group chief financial officer (CFO) with effect from 1 April 2020.
The Stockholm-listed affiliate confirmed Messner will replace current CFO Erik Edeen, who was appointed as interim CFO in January 2019 following the departure of previous interim CFO Pia-Lena Olofsson.
Messner currently serves as CFO for Swedish egaming company Modern Times Group, where he has been since 2014. He previously served as CFO and director of corporate development for bwin subsidiary Ongame between 2010 and 2013.
Prior to this, Messner served as product and portfolio manager for bwin for two years, before becoming an integrated business planning manager in 2009.
Edeen will continue to support Catena Media’s strategic projects for the foreseeable future, according to the affiliate.
Catena Media CEO Per Hellberg paid tribute to the outgoing Edeen, highlighting his work in improving Catena’s existing financial infrastructure during his time as interim group CFO.
“With a well-functioning financial infrastructure in place due to Erik’s contributions, our playing field is now ready to welcome Peter as CFO,” said Hellberg.
“His wide-ranging experience in key online media and gaming industries will fortify Catena Media’s operations in the years to come,” he added.
Catena reported a €10.5m loss in earnings after tax for full-year 2019, a 134% decrease on the previous year.
