Stephen Taylor-Matthews joins affiliate as a non-executive director, as Øystein Engebretsen departs after six years on the board

Catena Media has named former Betgenius and Amelco head Stephen Taylor-Matthews as a new non-executive director, following the departure of Øystein Engebretsen from the board.
A tech entrepreneur, Taylor-Matthews has over two decades worth of experience in igaming and sports betting.
His introduction to the real-money gaming industry came when he joined Betgenius as its senior product manager in May 2007 before leaving two years later.
He then moved to Perform as a product director and then, in January 2013, he joined Pinnacle Sports as head of commercial but only stayed at the firm for 11 months before leaving for Amelco to hold the same position.
Taylor-Matthews went on to establish APSTech in January 2015, a real-time sports betting intelligence firm, and was named GoatGaming CEO in November 2017,
He joined Underdog Fantasy as general manager of sports betting after the US business acquired GoatGaming in September 2021.
In January 2023, Taylor-Matthews founded AI-first business Polynate and was named as a strategic adviser to GamePLAI in March of this year.
Taylor-Matthews’ term on the board will end at the next annual general meeting, with Engebretsen departing having served as a non-executive director since September 2018.
On his addition to Catena Media board, Taylor-Matthews said: “Catena Media is in a transformation phase and I’m excited to be joining the board at this juncture and to contributing my industry expertise and insight.”
Erik Flinck, Catena Media chair, thanked Engebretsen while praising Taylor-Matthews’ addition.
Flinck added: “Øystein has made a valuable and important contribution to Catena Media for more than six years. I warmly thank him for his efforts and wish him well in his current and future ventures.
“At the same time, I am delighted to welcome Stephen Taylor-Matthews to the board. His experience and expertise will be a valuable asset for Catena Media as we move forward.”
