BoyleSports promotes COO to chief exec role
Conor Gray has worked at the Irish bookie for 16 years having joined as a trainee cashier

BoyleSports has promoted its operations chief Conor Gray to the role of chief executive officer (CEO), taking over from the Irish bookmaker’s founder John Boyle.
Gray, chief operating officer (COO) at the bookie since 2014, has worked at BoyleSports for 16 years having originally joined as a trainee cashier at one of its Dublin branches in 2001.
He later moved to the BoyleSports Information and Media department at its headquarters in Dundalk, County Louth, before assuming a number of executive roles over a 10-year period.
The new CEO replaces company founder John Boyle who last month announced he had stepped down to focus on M&A opportunities, with a UK acquisition in the operator’s sights.
Boyle, now executive chairman at the company, said: “After 35 years building BoyleSports from one shop into Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker, it would not be possible to step back if I were not confident that I was handing the reins to the right person.
“In Conor I am confident I have a successor who can bring not only experience and expertise but also a passion for all things related to bookmaking in general and BoyleSports in particular.”
Earlier this month, BoyleSports rolled out Playtech BGT Sports’ (PBS) BetTracker product as the Irish bookie looked to boost its omni-channel capabilities.
The omni-channel solution is available on iOS and Android and enables customers to transfer and cash out shop-made bets on their mobile device by scanning tickets.
